Q:

What happens if my pool barrier is assessed as being a significant danger when it is inspected?

A:

The pool inspector is legally required to inform Council (via a Form 24) if your pool barrier:

  • is not likely to attain Certification within 60 days of the initial inspection.

  • is regarded as posing a significant and immediate risk to life or safety.

  • has a barrier which is less than 1m high at any point.

  • has a gate which is unable to be completely closed .

  • has a gate which, when closed, is able to be opened by a person who cannot reach the opening mechanism.

Council will then take over the Certification process, and this will incur additional fees.
